Patty Mills Hosts First Nations Peoples on BK Nets Friday Night Live Game

On January 7 2022 for Friday Night Live at the Barclays Center, Patty Mills along with the Brooklyn Nets hosted Owl S.D. Smith, a local Ramapough Lenape Nation elder for a living land acknowledgement and Redhawk Native American Arts Council for a special cultural performance.

To honor the Lenape relatives of the Canarsie tribe who originally called Brooklyn home, a Land Acknowledgement was held center court at the Barclays Center shortly before tip off by Sub-Chief Owl S.D. Smith of the Ramapough Lenpae Nation of New York and New Jersey.

During the second time out of the game, Redhawk Native American Arts Council delivered a moving performance that sent the fans into a whirlwind of excitement and wonder.

Redhawk Native American Arts Council (RNNAC) is a cultural organization based in Brooklyn dedicated to furthering the education of Native American heritage through song, dance, theatre, works of art, and other cultural forms of expression. Redhawk artists come from all over the country, having the opportunity to represent their families, communities, and tribes in New York City.
